CHAROLAIS
The Charolais breed is known as the terminal crossbreed since being imported to North America some 50 years ago. The Charolais breed crossed excellently with the Hereford based herds in North America and the resulting offspring were highly sought by the feedlot owners and in turn the meat packing companies.
The type of Charolais has changed significantly in North America to fit our climate and calving conditions. We have seen these resulting animals to be classed as “American or Canadian Charolais” Today we see the uses of Full French genetics returning to the North American Charolais herds yet still maintaining the desirable traits that were a result of breed selection to build the American or Canadian type Charolais.
In Canada, we still have some herds breeding Full French Charolais but as well we have numerous breeders using a combination of the old and new lines in their herds. Whatever lines you need for your breeding operation, we at Peterosa Exports have the ability to source these genetics for you.
